Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack welcomes two classic F-Zero GBA racers!

F-Zero Climax on Switch Online

This exciting update brings two iconic titles to the service. F-Zero: GP Legend, a globally released favorite, joins the Japan-exclusive F-Zero Climax, making its long-awaited Western debut.

F-Zero GP Legend and Climax

The F-Zero series, a cornerstone of Nintendo's racing legacy, first ignited the scene in Japan over 30 years ago. Known for pushing the boundaries of console technology in its time, F-Zero is a critically acclaimed franchise that influenced other racing giants like SEGA's Daytona USA. The series' signature high-octane racing, featuring intense track obstacles and competitive battles between "F-Zero machines," has captivated players for decades. Captain Falcon, the series' iconic protagonist, even makes appearances in the Super Smash Bros. franchise.

F-Zero: GP Legend initially launched in Japan in 2003, followed by a worldwide release in 2004. F-Zero Climax, released in Japan in 2004, has remained a region-exclusive title until now – a significant addition, as it was the last main F-Zero game for nearly two decades, preceding last year's F-Zero 99 for the Switch. Game designer Takaya Imamura has cited the popularity of Mario Kart as a contributing factor to the F-Zero series' prolonged hiatus.

The October 2024 update to the Switch Online + Expansion Pack delivers both F-Zero Climax and F-Zero: GP Legend, offering players a chance to compete in Grand Prix, story modes, and various time trials.
