LEGO Enters the Gaming World with In-House Projects

Author : Hunter Apr 19,2025

LEGO CEO Niels Christiansen has shared exciting news about the company’s future, emphasizing a significant expansion into the digital realm through video game development. LEGO plans to craft new gaming experiences both independently and in collaboration with other developers. Christiansen stated, “We are confident that, as long as we operate under the LEGO brand, we aim to create experiences for children of all ages across both digital and physical platforms. Developing games internally is something we are actively pursuing.” This strategy does not preclude LEGO from continuing to license its brand to third-party developers, as evidenced by recent reports from journalist Jason Schreier, who mentioned that TT Games, renowned for its LEGO-themed titles, is currently developing a new game potentially linked to a Warner Bros. franchise.

LEGO’s most prominent gaming endeavor at the moment is its collaboration with Epic Games. The introduction of a LEGO-themed mode in Fortnite last year became an instant hit, significantly boosting the game's popularity. Additionally, LEGO has a storied history with TT Games, which has developed the beloved adventure game series for over two decades. Although recent projects have been under wraps, rumors are circulating about a new LEGO Harry Potter game, fueled by the success of LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga, which proved to be a commercial success.

Further expanding its footprint in the gaming world, LEGO partnered with 2K Games to launch LEGO 2K Drive, a racing game released last year. This move underscores LEGO's adaptability and commitment to diversifying its presence within the gaming industry.
