How To Make a Mob Farm in Minecraft (Easy, Step-By-Step Mob Spawner)

Author : Nicholas Feb 20,2025

This guide provides a straightforward method for constructing a highly efficient mob farm in Minecraft. A mob farm is crucial for acquiring valuable resources and experience points (XP).

Step 1: Gathering Resources

Begin by collecting a substantial quantity of building blocks. Cobblestone and wood are readily accessible and ideal choices.

Step 2: Choosing a Location

Construct your farm high in the sky above a body of water. This prevents ground-level mob spawns and ensures mobs spawn exclusively within your farm. Build a small platform approximately 100 blocks above the water, adding ladders for easy access. Place a chest and connect four hoppers to it for item collection (see image below).

Step 3: Building the Main Structure

Construct a 4x4 tower, extending 21 blocks high for XP farming or 22 blocks for automatic mob killing. Place slabs atop the hoppers.

Step 4: Creating Water Channels

Build four 7-block long, 2-block wide bridges extending from the tower. Construct 2-block high walls around the bridges. Place two water blocks at each bridge's end to create flowing water channels.

Step 5: Completing the Structure

Connect the water channels to form a large square. Ensure walls are at least two blocks high to prevent mob spawning outside the designated area. Fill in the structure, creating walls, floor, and roof.

Step 6: Preventing Rooftop Spawns

Place torches or slabs across the roof to prevent mob spawning on top of the farm.

  • Increased Spawn Rates: Place a bed nearby to boost spawn rates.
  • Preventing Spider Spawns: Place carpets with one block spacing to prevent spider accumulation.
