Mobile Legends: Bang Bang Returns to Esports World Cup 2025
Following the apparent success of the Esports World Cup 2024, several game publishers have confirmed their titles' return for the 2025 edition. Moonton's Mobile Legends: Bang Bang is the latest to join the roster, following Garena's Free Fire.
The 2024 tournament featured two Mobile Legends: Bang Bang events: the MLBB Mid-Season Cup (MSC) and the MLBB Women's Invitational. These events drew teams from around the globe to Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. Selangor Red Giants emerged victorious in the MSC, while Smart Omega Empress defeated Team Vitality (holders of a 25-game win streak since 2021) to claim the Women's Invitational title.
A Strong Showing, But Is It Enough?
While most games from the 2024 Esports World Cup are returning, a noticeable trend is the absence of truly major championship events. The inclusion of MLBB's mid-season cup, for instance, might suggest the Esports World Cup is viewed more as a supplementary event than a primary competition. This is a double-edged sword; it avoids overshadowing existing leagues but could also be seen as a secondary tournament.
Regardless, fans of the games involved will undoubtedly welcome the return of so many familiar titles to this prestigious tournament.
