Player First Games has announced the impending closure of its platform fighter, MultiVersus, with Season 5 marking its final chapter. The game, launched May 28, 2024, will conclude its run on May 30, 2025, at 9 a.m. PST. This announcement, detailed in a blog post on the studio's website, signifies the end of online support.
Season 5, commencing February 4th, will be the game's swan song. While online play will cease on the termination date, Player First Games assures players that offline access to all acquired content will remain through local and training modes.
The MultiVersus team expressed gratitude for player support in a heartfelt message: “Most importantly, we want to thank every player and person who has ever played or supported MultiVersus. We will be forever grateful for the incredible support of the MultiVersus community throughout this journey.”

In-game purchases are now disabled, although players can still utilize Gleamium and character tokens to unlock content until May 30th. The game will be delisted from the PlayStation Store, Microsoft Store, Steam, and Epic Games Store concurrently.
MultiVersus' closure follows reports of its underperformance for Warner Bros. Discovery, resulting in a significant $100 million writedown, contributing to a larger $300 million loss in the games sector. This financial setback, coupled with the underperformance of Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League, contributed to the departure of Warner Bros. Games head David Haddad.
Despite the game's premature end, Season 5 promises a robust send-off. Alongside typical seasonal updates, Lola Bunny and Aquaman will join the roster as playable characters. Lola Bunny will be a daily calendar reward, while Aquaman will be available via the battle pass, both launching next week.
