Naruto X Boruto Ninja Voltage Ends Service

Bandai Namco has officially announced that Naruto X Boruto Ninja Voltage, their fortress strategy action RPG, is shutting down. Yes, another Bandai Namco gacha game is calling it quits. For a lot of players, this news doesn’t come as a surprise though!

Also, it’s not the first time a Naruto gacha game has suffered this fate. Remember the downfall of Naruto Blazing, another gacha game that struggled with PvP issues and eventually met a similar end?

When Is Naruto X Boruto Ninja Voltage Shutting Down?

It’s been quite a ride for this game, which first dropped in 2017. It managed to stick around for nearly seven years. Now, it’s shutting down on December 9th, 2024. For those still playing, you can keep going until the shutdown date.

The game still has a few upcoming events before its EOS. From October 8th to October 18th, you can participate in the Village Leader World Championship. After that, there’s an All-Out Mission running from October 18th to November 1st. Following that, a ‘Thanks For Everything’ campaign will kick off from November 1st to December 1st to wrap things up.

And during all this time, you can still collect Ninja Cards, participate in summoning events and use your in-game items until the last day. If you have any Gold Coins saved up, you should probably spend them while you still can.

What Went Wrong?

Naruto X Boruto Ninja Voltage had a strong start. But then things started to fall apart about halfway through its lifespan. Initially, the game had a pretty balanced system where you could build your own village, set traps and use your favourite Naruto characters to defend it while you weren’t logged in.

However, after the debut of Minato, the developers seemed to lean into the power creep trend. And that, of course, wasn’t taken well by many players. In addition, pay-to-win elements became more blatant, free-to-play rewards were slashed and multiplayer features almost disappeared.

So, it kind of became obvious for a lot of players that sooner or later, Naruto X Boruto Ninja Voltage would be shutting down. You can still try the game out from the Google Play Store if you want.
