Team Ninja's substantial update for Ninja Gaiden 2 Black (version 1.0.7.0) introduces highly anticipated features and significant improvements. Available now on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC (Steam & Microsoft Store), this patch, promised in January, directly addresses player feedback.
Key additions include New Game Plus, allowing players to restart on any previously completed difficulty level, retaining acquired weapons and Ninpo (though reset to level 1). Note: Difficulty cannot be immediately increased via New Game Plus.
Quality-of-life enhancements arrive with the option to hide the projectile weapon displayed on the character's back. This toggle is conveniently located within the Game Settings of the Options menu.
Balance adjustments include HP reductions for enemies in Chapters 8 and 11, increased enemy counts in Chapters 13 and 14, and a damage boost for some of Ayane's attacks.
Numerous bug fixes are also implemented, addressing high-performance PC issues, game-breaking bugs in specific chapters, and general stability improvements. See the full patch notes below for complete details.
Originally a surprise release during January's Xbox Developer Direct, Ninja Gaiden 2 Black, powered by Unreal Engine 5, boasts enhanced visuals, new playable characters, and improved combat mechanics. IGN's 8/10 review praised the game's visual upgrade over Sigma 2, while noting some balance considerations.
