Nintendo has officially confirmed that players will be able to utilize the Switch 2 Joy-Con's innovative mouse controls directly on the Home screen, adding a new dimension to navigating the console's interface. Since the unveiling of the Nintendo Switch 2, the community has been buzzing with excitement and speculation about the capabilities of the new Joy-Con's mouse mode. Last month, we received official confirmation that these controllers can indeed function in "mouse mode," enabling users to glide them across flat surfaces and use the analog sticks to mimic left and right mouse clicks, much like a traditional mouse. Moreover, the flexibility extends to using two Joy-Con simultaneously in mouse mode, either one in each hand or combining one in standard mode with the other in mouse mode.

Recent updates shared via the Nintendo Today app and X/Twitter have further detailed how these mouse controls will enhance the user experience on the Switch 2. As demonstrated, when you "place the Joy-Con 2 controller on a surface with the attachment side facing down, a cursor will appear on screen," according to Nintendo. To activate the cursor, simply lay the Joy-Con 2 on a table or another flat surface and move it as instructed.

"While using mouse controls, you can tilt the control stick to scroll through menus," Nintendo elaborated, "\[and\] use mouse controls on the Home menu and in compatible software." To revert to using the thumbstick, just reposition the Joy-Con 2 horizontally.

While the full list of mouse-compliant games remains undisclosed, Nintendo has demonstrated the technology working seamlessly with the Switch 2 editions of Mario Party Jamboree and Metroid Prime 4, as well as the wheelchair basketball game Drag x Drive.
