Overture DLC Not Linked to Base Game's Final Cutscene, Says Lies of P Director

Author : Thomas May 19,2025

Since the announcement of the upcoming DLC for Lies of P, titled Overture, fans have been buzzing with speculation about the mysteries it might unveil. At the recent Game Developers Conference, IGN uncovered that one particular enigma—the base game's surprising final cutscene—won't be addressed in the DLC. For those yet to experience the end of Lies of P, the cutscene in question hints at future directions for the game's universe without spoiling the plot. It's a twist that has left the community eager for answers, but Lies of P director Jiwon Choi has confirmed that this scene is not connected to the Overture DLC. Choi tantalizingly added, "Please stay tuned for additional announcements in the future."

Neowiz has already announced a sequel to Lies of P, suggesting that the mysterious cutscene might be setting the stage for Lies of P 2. However, details about the sequel remain scarce, and Choi was tight-lipped about any hints during our conversation. He emphasized Neowiz's commitment to quality, stating, "What I can certainly tell you is when we share such news or media and assets with you, you'll know for sure that we are ready to present it to you. And that follows very our strict focus on quality [amid] all the pressure that we talked about in the past. So that is the one promise that I can share with you, that when we actually share those contents with you and the news, we will be ready to share that with you."

The scene in question, which we discussed with Choi, is the "Dorothy scene." As detailed in our previous coverage, the final cutscene shows Paracelcus on a phone call, mentioning his intent to "find her, for sure. Another key of ours: Dorothy." The scene then reveals the iconic striped sock legs and ruby slippers of Dorothy from The Wizard of Oz, hinting at a connection to other public domain fairy tales in future Lies of P content. However, this intriguing twist will not be explored in Overture.

While the Dorothy scene remains a mystery for now, Choi did provide some insights into what fans can expect from the Overture DLC. He encouraged players to replay the base game, noting that it contains numerous hints about the upcoming expansion: "When you play through the base game again, you'll see many hints that we scattered throughout the whole experience," Choi explained. "A lot of hints and a lot of windows into the world, and you'll be able to actually see that and experience that in expansion…There are many things that I actually wanted to accomplish when we were working on the base game. It didn't get put into the base game, and all of that, at least key elements of that are going to be included in expansion."

Choi also mentioned that some fans are already piecing together Neowiz's plans, as he frequently reads online fan theories and finds some of them "quite close" to the mark. Additionally, he shared that the Overture DLC is expected to take experienced players between 15-20 hours to complete. It will be accessible after reaching a "certain" chapter in the game and can be played through to the end. As previously announced, the DLC serves as a prequel, with the protagonist being transported back in time to Krat just before its fall. Players can look forward to new locations, enemies, bosses, characters, and weapons, though Choi kept the specifics under wraps to maintain the excitement for the release.
