A Pokémon Sword and Shield enthusiast recently unveiled their creative vision of what Galar's Fossil Pokémon might have looked like in their original, complete forms, a stark contrast to the fragmented versions found in the game. Their artwork, shared online, garnered significant praise from fellow players, who also lauded the imaginative type assignments and abilities.
Fossil Pokémon have been a staple of the Pokémon franchise since its inception. In Pokémon Red and Blue, players unearthed Dome and Helix Fossils, bringing Kabuto and Omanyte to life. However, Sword and Shield deviated from this tradition, presenting players with fragmented fossil remains of creatures resembling fish and birds. Combining these fragments with the help of Cara Liss yielded Arctozolt, Arctovish, Dracozolt, and Dracovish.
Despite the absence of new Fossil Pokémon since Generation VIII, the Galar region's ancient creatures continue to inspire fan creativity. Reddit user IridescentMirage shared their artistic interpretation of these Pokémon in their pristine forms, introducing Lyzolt, Razovish, Dracosaurus, and Arctomaw. These creations boast secondary types – Electric, Water, Dragon, and Ice respectively – and abilities like Strong Jaw and Adaptability, enhancing both their visual appeal and battle potential. Arctomaw stands out with an impressive base stat total of 560, boasting a remarkable 150 in physical attack.

IridescentMirage's vision also introduces a novel "Primal" type, inspired by the Past Paradox Pokémon from Pokémon Scarlet and a personal Pokémon action RPG project. This Primal type grants effectiveness against Grass, Fire, Flying, Ground, and Electric Pokémon, but leaves them vulnerable to Ice, Ghost, and Water attacks. The artwork has been met with enthusiastic approval, with many commenting on the improved design of Lyzolt compared to its in-game counterpart and expressing intrigue about the Primal type.
While the true forms of Galar's Fossil Pokémon remain a mystery, fan creations like IridescentMirage's offer captivating glimpses into what could have been. Only future installments will reveal the true nature of the next generation's Fossil Pokémon.
