Path of Exile 2: Mastering the Greater Jeweller's Orb

The Greater Jeweller's Orb is a coveted item in Path of Exile 2, essential for adding a crucial fourth link to your skill gems. This significantly boosts damage and survivability, particularly in endgame builds. However, obtaining this rare currency can be challenging. This guide outlines two primary methods: farming and trading.

Farming Greater Jeweller's Orbs

While technically obtainable from any monster, the drop rate is abysmally low. The most effective farming strategy focuses on the late-game, specifically Tier 10+ maps.

Optimal Farming Setup:

  • Location: Breaches within expansive Grass biome maps (see list below).
  • Waystones: T10+ fully upgraded Corrupted Delirious maps (use Orb of Alchemy -> Exalted Orb -> Delirium Instills -> Vaal Orb if necessary).
  • Waystone Modifiers: Prioritize Increased Number of Rare Monsters, Increased Pack Size, Increased Item Quantity, Increased Number of Monster Packs, Increased Quantity/Rarity of Items Found, and Rare Monsters have 1 additional modifier.
  • Atlas Skill Tree Node: Invest in Local Knowledge (increases Socket Currency drops by 40% in Grass biomes; Greater Jeweller's Orbs are considered Socket Currency).
  • Build: A build with fast clear speed and decent defenses (e.g., Ice Strike Invoker Monk, Deadeye Ranger, Stormweaver Sorcerer) is recommended, but not strictly required. Remember to utilize Precursor Tablets on nearby Towers to boost drops.

Understanding Local Knowledge: This Atlas node doesn't directly increase drop rates, but re-weights the loot table, favoring Socket Currency in Grass biomes. This includes Lesser, Greater, and Perfect Jeweller's Orbs. However, it negatively impacts drops in other biomes (Desert, Mountains). Strategically utilize Local Knowledge only in appropriate Grass biome maps.

Grass Biome Maps for Farming:

Map Biome(s)
Augury Grass/Forest/Swamp
Blooming Field Grass/Forest
Crypt Grass/Mountain/Desert
Decay Grass/Forest/Swamp
Hidden Grotto Grass/Mountain/Forest/Swamp
Seepage Grass/Forest/Swamp
Savannah Grass/Desert
Vaal Factory Grass/City

Trading for Greater Jeweller's Orbs

A more reliable, albeit potentially more expensive, method is direct trading. Path of Exile 2 offers both in-game currency exchange and a dedicated trading website.

  • In-game Currency Exchange: Accessible after reaching Act 3 Cruel. Trade Exalted Orbs/Divine Orbs for Greater Jeweller's Orbs at the current market rate. This offers a secure and convenient transaction.
  • Trading Website: This provides potentially cheaper options but requires navigating listings and interacting directly with other players, increasing the risk of scams. Filter searches by Exalted Orb buyout price to streamline results.

Remember to always exercise caution when trading with other players. The in-game exchange is the safer option. By combining these farming and trading strategies, you can significantly increase your chances of obtaining the coveted Greater Jeweller's Orb.
