Famous for his portrayal of Roronoa Zoro in the One Piece live-action adaptation, Mackenyu will voice Gennojo in both Japanese and English. Gennojo, a significant character in Assassin's Creed Shadows' feudal Japan setting, will play a crucial role in assisting the protagonist. Ubisoft describes him as instrumental in "tracking and eliminating a crucial target."
Ubisoft further elaborates on Gennojo's personality: "Gennojo is a charming, reckless, and deeply conflicted individual, driven by guilt to dismantle a corrupt system. He's a flirtatious rogue and a trickster, balancing wit, deceit, and swagger.
