Pokémon TCG Pocket previews new trading feature and gives fresh details on implementation

Author : Grace Mar 16,2025

Pokémon TCG Pocket is adding a highly anticipated trading system later this month, bringing the thrill of real-life card swapping to the digital world. This new feature will let you trade cards with friends, adding a social and strategic layer to the game.

Initially, trading will be limited to cards of the same rarity (1-4 stars), and only between friends. A key element is that traded cards are consumed; you won't keep your original copy.

The developers plan to monitor the system's performance closely after launch and make adjustments as needed. This iterative approach suggests a commitment to refining the trading experience based on player feedback.

Trading in Pokémon TCG Pocket: A Balanced Approach?

While some limitations exist—such as restrictions on tradable rarity tiers and the potential use of consumable currencies—this implementation represents a thoughtful approach to integrating trading. The developers' commitment to post-launch adjustments is reassuring. Further clarification on specific rarity tiers and consumable currency requirements is expected closer to the release date.
