A former employee of the studio recently disclosed on her LinkedIn profile that a game, which had been under development for several years, has been abruptly canceled this week. No official reason was provided for the sudden halt in production. Last year, well-known journalist Jeff Grubb revealed that this project was not a mainline entry in the series, clarifying that it was not intended to be Titanfall 3. To work on this game, Respawn Entertainment assembled a dedicated "experimental team" composed of specialists with extensive experience in developing multiplayer shooters.
This isn't the first time Respawn has had to cancel a project; last year, they also shut down an arcade shooter codenamed Titanfall Legends. The Titanfall series, renowned for its exhilarating mix of action and mech piloting, allows players to engage in combat either as agile pilots or as commanding Titans. Since the debut of the first game in 2014, the franchise has carved out a niche for itself with its distinctive gameplay, which seamlessly blends parkour with intense team battles.
Currently, Respawn's attention is directed towards the development of the third installment in the Star Wars Jedi series, as well as a new strategy game set within the Star Wars universe, which is being developed in partnership with Bit Reactor.
