Switch 2 May Feature Gear Repair via Zelda's App

Author : Blake Jan 21,2026

Nintendo Switch 2 versions of The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild and Tears of the Kingdom are set to receive several upgrades, with one notable addition appearing to be a method for repairing equipment.

As highlighted during a recent Nintendo Treehouse Live stream by YouTuber Zeltik, the Zelda Notes app—an exclusive companion app for the Nintendo Switch 2 editions of Breath of the Wild and Tears of the Kingdom—includes a Daily Bonus feature. When accessed, players can spin for various in-game rewards, including beneficial meal effects, health and stamina restoration, and one labeled Equipment Repairs.

Both Breath of the Wild and Tears of the Kingdom utilize durability systems, meaning weapons, shields, and other gear eventually break after repeated use. This mechanic has sparked debate among fans, so having an option to maintain prized gear like the Flameblade holds clear appeal.

However, players concerned about this feature drastically altering gameplay should note a key constraint: randomness. The Daily Bonus employs a roulette wheel to randomly assign rewards, so receiving an Equipment Repair isn't guaranteed every time. Additionally, since the bonus refreshes daily with a built-in timer, players must wait for another chance. While helpful in emergencies, this likely won't redefine the core experience.

Beyond offering occasional equipment repairs, the Zelda Notes app includes several other intriguing features. Both games will also introduce achievements via the mobile companion, and special audio logs will expand the lore and history of Hyrule’s various regions.

Together with performance enhancements, these updates promise to enrich the open-world Zelda adventure, particularly for those frustrated by gear durability.
