Mastering Fishing in Rune Slayer: A Comprehensive Guide

If you're wondering if Rune Slayer is an MMORPG, the presence of fishing should settle that debate! This guide will walk you through the surprisingly unintuitive fishing mechanics.

Step 1: The Quest

Begin by accepting the fishing quest from Simon the Fisherman (the white-haired NPC near the pier where barracuda swim). He'll task you with catching 5 "fish" in exchange for a Tackle Box.

Step 2: Gear Up

Purchase a Wood Fishing Rod and at least 5 Worms (10 is recommended) from Simon. Crucially, you do not equip the bait; simply keep the Worms in your inventory. A caught "fish" consumes one Worm. It appears you need at least 5 worms in your inventory to catch anything. Placing the worms in your hotbar aids inventory management.

Step 3: Cast and Reel

  1. Select your Wood Fishing Rod (placing it in your hotbar is sufficient).
  2. Hold M1 to cast your line into the water (the pier near Simon is ideal).
  3. Watch the bobber. When it ripples (once or twice), click M1 again to reel in your catch.

Important Note: This process isn't foolproof. You might catch nothing, or you might catch junk (like Old Cups), which Simon still counts towards your quest total.

Step 4: Quest Completion

Once you've caught 5 items (fish or junk), return to Simon to complete the quest and receive your Tackle Box. Use the Tackle Box to store remaining Worms, freeing up inventory space.
