Sony is phasing out PlayStation 4 games from its PlayStation Plus Essentials and Games Catalog starting January 2026, focusing its efforts on PlayStation 5 titles.
This shift, announced alongside February 2025's PlayStation Plus monthly games, means PS4 games will become less frequent additions to the monthly and catalog offerings. Sony stated that this change reflects the growing PS5 player base and their preference for PS5 games. However, previously acquired titles remain accessible, and Games Catalog entries will stay available until their scheduled removal.
The company assures subscribers that PlayStation Plus will continue to evolve, emphasizing benefits like exclusive discounts, online multiplayer, and cloud saves. The focus will now be on adding new PS5 games to the monthly lineup.
