When Is the Splitgate 2 Open Alpha Test?
Surprise-announced during February's PlayStation State of Play, a new trailer revealed the Open Alpha Test will run from February 27th to March 2nd, 2025, on consoles and PC.
How To Play Splitgate 2’s Open Alpha Test
True to its name, this test is open to all. However, you'll need to wait until February 27th. To join the fun:
- On February 27th, head to your preferred digital storefront (Steam, PS Store, etc.).
- Search for Splitgate 2.
- Download the Crossplay Alpha Test.
What to Expect in Splitgate 2’s Open Alpha Test
According to 1047 Games' Lead Writer, Nate Dern (via the PlayStation Blog), the Open Alpha will feature crossplay and a new 24-player mode: Multi-Team Portal Warfare. Three teams of eight will battle on Splitgate’s largest map yet, experimenting with new weapons, perks, and equipment alongside the classic fast-paced action.
The original Splitgate's beloved portal mechanics remain central, allowing for creative outplays and trick shots. While the sequel introduces new classes (or factions) with unique abilities, the core portal gameplay, refined through internal and external feedback, promises a defining FPS experience.
Splitgate 2’s Open Alpha launches February 27th on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, and PC.
