Author : Isabella Mar 13,2025

Summary

  • Lonely Mountains: Snow Riders, a day-one title for Xbox Game Pass Ultimate subscribers, arrives January 21st.
  • Additional new games, including Eternal Strands and Citizen Sleeper 2, bolster the Game Pass lineup later in January 2025.

Lonely Mountains: Snow Riders hits Xbox Game Pass on Tuesday, January 21st, adding some much-needed excitement to the service's January 2025 lineup. While Microsoft initially unveiled a leaner-than-usual first wave of January games, the majority of early changes involved shifting Ultimate-exclusive titles to the Standard tier. Notable exceptions were the addition of Diablo to PC Game Pass and EA Sports UFC 5 for Ultimate subscribers. Although a second wave of announcements is pending, at least one exciting addition is confirmed.

Lonely Mountains: Snow Riders launches on January 21st as a day-one Game Pass title, initially exclusive to Xbox Game Pass Ultimate subscribers. This snow-based skiing game offers both co-op and PvP options, promising engaging gameplay.

Xbox Game Pass Games for January 2025

  • Carrion - January 2nd
  • Road 96 - January 7th
  • Diablo - January 14th
  • EA Sports UFC 3 - January 14th
  • Lonely Mountains: Snow Riders - January 21st
  • Eternal Strands - January 28th
  • Sniper Elite: Resistance - January 30th
  • Citizen Sleeper 2 - January 31st

The second half of January 2025 significantly expands the Game Pass offerings, following a slower start to the month. Alongside Lonely Mountains: Snow Riders, three other day-one releases are planned: Eternal Strands (January 28th), Sniper Elite: Resistance (January 30th), and Citizen Sleeper 2: Starward Vector (January 31st).

Among these additions, Eternal Strands stands out. Developed by Yellow Brick Games and led by BioWare veteran Mike Laidlaw, this action-adventure game boasts a distinct Zelda-esque feel. Game Pass Ultimate subscribers gain access to all these new January titles at no extra cost.

February 2025's Game Pass lineup currently appears less robust. While Avowed is confirmed for Xbox Game Pass Ultimate on February 18th, the remainder of the month's additions remain undisclosed. Until then, Game Pass Ultimate subscribers can enjoy the wave of new January titles, including Lonely Mountains: Snow Riders and Eternal Strands.
