Xbox Games Coming to Android via Xbox App

Xbox is bringing its mobile game store to Android devices as early as next month, according to Xbox president Sarah Bond. This follows the recent court ruling in Google's antitrust battle with Epic Games.

The Xbox Mobile App: What We Know

The new Xbox Android app, launching potentially in November, will allow users to purchase and play games directly within the app. This announcement, shared by Sarah Bond on X, highlights the increased flexibility offered by the Google Play Store following the court's decision. The ruling mandates Google provide rival app stores access to its full app catalog for three years, creating a more open market.

Why This Is a Big Deal

While an existing Xbox app allows for game downloads to Xbox consoles and cloud streaming for Game Pass Ultimate subscribers, the November update introduces direct game purchases via the mobile app—a significant addition to the Android gaming landscape.

Further details about the app's features will be revealed in November. For more in-depth analysis, check out this CNBC article. [ttpp]
