Assassin's Creed Shadows' "Claws of Awaji" DLC Leaks on Steam
A Steam leak has reportedly revealed details about the first DLC for Assassin's Creed Shadows, titled "Claws of Awaji." This expansion promises a significant amount of new content for players.
The upcoming Assassin's Creed Shadows, set in 16th-century feudal Japan, marks the franchise's debut in East Asia. Players will control dual protagonists: Yasuke, a Samurai, and Naoe, a Shinobi, navigating a turbulent period in Japanese history. The game's development has been fraught with challenges, including negative feedback and multiple delays. The latest delay pushed the release date to March 20, 2025.
According to Insider Gaming, a now-deleted Steam update revealed information about "Claws of Awaji." The leak suggests the DLC will introduce a new region, weapon type, skills, gear, and abilities, adding over 10 hours of gameplay. Pre-ordering the game will reportedly grant access to both the DLC and a bonus mission.
Delayed Launch and Ubisoft's Uncertain Future
The "Claws of Awaji" leak follows another delay announcement for Assassin's Creed Shadows. Initially slated for November 15, 2024, the game was first pushed back to February 14, 2025, and then again to March 20, 2025, for further polishing.
This delay coincides with uncertainty surrounding Ubisoft's future, fueled by rumors of a potential Tencent acquisition. This speculation comes after a challenging period for the company, marked by underperforming titles like XDefiant and Star Wars Outlaws.
