Atelier Yumia: Memory & Land Synthesis Guide

Author : Julian May 04,2025

One of the most intricate elements of *Atelier Yumia: The Alchemist of Memories & the Envisioned Land* is the Synthesis mechanic, which is deeply integrated into every facet of the game. From the resources you gather to the weapons you craft, mastering Synthesis can significantly enhance your gameplay. Here's how to maximize your use of this crucial system.

Synthesis Types in Atelier Yumia

In *Atelier Yumia*, there are three distinct types of Synthesis:

  • Regular Synthesis: This is performed at an Alchemist's altar and is essential for crafting weapons, armor, battle accessories, magical items, and materials needed for other Synthesis processes. You unlock the Atelier early in the game, which serves as your base for regular Synthesis. Additionally, you can build a Simple Altar in cleared manabound zones and campsites to perform regular Synthesis on the go.
  • Simple Synthesis: Accessible through the radial menu outside of battle, this allows you to craft utility items like bandages, gauntlets for ziplines, and repair kits for treasure chests and ladders, as long as you have the necessary resources.
  • Building Synthesis: Although not directly labeled as Synthesis, this is accessed through the radial menu in designated plots of land. Here, you can create storage chests and wall hangings, which the game's narrative often refers to as Synthesis.

Understanding these types of Synthesis will help you navigate the game more effectively and utilize your resources efficiently.

How to Synthesize Equipment in Atelier Yumia

The most complex aspect of Synthesis is the regular form, which takes place at Alchemist's altars. To craft items like a gun staff for Yumia, follow these steps:

  1. Find the recipe for the item while exploring the game world.
  2. Optionally, upgrade existing recipes at a Recipe Recall Station using particles from mana fountains.
  3. At the Alchemist's altar, select the type of gun staff you want to create.
  4. Choose Synthesis Skills if they are unlocked in your skill tree.
  5. Select the initial Alchemy Core, which can be one of three types:
    • Effects Alchemy Core: Enhances the selected skills.
    • Quality Alchemy Core: Increases the quality level of the completed item.
    • Trait Alchemy Core: Increases the number of Trait Crystal slots available for the item.
  6. Fill the slots of each Alchemy Core with the resources you've gathered.
  7. Collect mana fragments to further boost the quality of the item.
  8. Complete the Synthesis process to create the item.

To craft powerful items early in the game, unlock Synthesis Skills from the Synthesis section of the skill tree as soon as possible. These skills will provide significant boosts to damage and quality, and allow you to duplicate items, saving valuable resources.

To enhance the item's quality, add resources to all three Alchemy Cores by using the left or right bumper while filling the slots. Collecting mana fragments (yellow sparkles around the Alchemy Core) for all three cores will greatly increase the item's strength, which is beneficial for most items except quest-specific ones.

When selecting resources, prioritize those that match the element type of the specific slots, indicated by a blue outline. You can also organize your resources in the submenu to prioritize higher-quality ones, though you may want to focus on effects instead.

If the complexity of Synthesis feels overwhelming, you can opt for the auto-Synthesis feature after selecting your Synthesis Skills. This feature optimizes the crafting process, enabling you to create effective items that can help you conquer the final boss on Normal difficulty without much hassle.

By mastering the Synthesis mechanic in *Atelier Yumia*, you'll be well-equipped to tackle the challenges of the game and enjoy a richer gaming experience.
