Blasphemous, the challenging 2D platformer drawing inspiration from religious iconography and Spanish folklore, is now available on Android! This release includes all DLC, gamepad support, and a completely redesigned user interface. The iOS version is coming soon.
Organized religion can be unsettling, and Blasphemous, from The Game Kitchen, masterfully captures that unsettling atmosphere. Prepare for a dark gothic setting, intense side-scrolling combat, and unforgiving difficulty. Yes, it's finally on Android!
You play as The Penitent One, a heavily armored warrior on a quest to liberate the cursed island of Cvstodia from the blight known as The Miracle. Face grotesque monsters and abominations born from twisted religious imagery and Spanish folklore. Your mission: break the curse, and expect to die... repeatedly.
Blasphemous features a completely revamped UI and intuitive touch controls optimized for mobile devices. Bluetooth gamepad support is also included for those who prefer a more traditional controller experience. All DLC is included in this mobile release.
Awaiting iOS Release
iOS users will have to exercise a bit more patience; Blasphemous is slated for an iOS launch in late February 2025. However, given its overwhelmingly positive reception from players and critics, the wait will undoubtedly be worthwhile.
Mobile platformers can be a gamble. Touchscreen controls aren't always ideal for precise platforming, as my experience with Castlevania: Symphony of the Night demonstrated.
