Netflix has a new all-time most-watched film: KPop Demon Hunters.
According to Netflix's official data, KPop Demon Hunters attracted an additional 25.4 million views between August 18 and 24. Since its June debut on the platform, its total view count has reached an astounding 236 million.
More impressively, the movie's audience has shown almost no decline for three straight weeks—a rare achievement even for blockbuster hits. Deadline predicts views will climb further next week, as the separate KPop Demon Hunters The Sing-Along Event's viewership is counted alongside the original film's total.
This achievement follows the film becoming Netflix's most-watched animated movie ever in July.
KPop Demon Hunters now tops the all-time chart, moving Red Notice (230.9 million views) to second place. The rest of the top five includes Carry-On, Don't Look Up, and The Adam Project. For the past week, Night Always Comes placed second with 12.3 million views, trailed by Welcome to Sudden Death, My Oxford Year, and Home.
For the uninitiated, KPop Demon Hunters is a Sony Pictures Animation musical following Korean pop group Huntrix. The trio secretly battles demons by night, aiming to stop an evil demon king from destroying humanity. IGN's 8/10 review praised it as a "spectacular animated action musical" and a "terrific directorial debut for animator Maggie Kang."
Netflix is moving quickly to build on this success, with a live-action adaptation, a stage musical, sequels, and more in the works—reportedly calling the franchise its own "Frozen." A sing-along version launched earlier this week, with special theatrical screenings held over the past weekend.
