Pokémon GO Tour: Unova Event Brings Black and White Kyurem
Get ready, Pokémon GO trainers! Black and White Kyurem are finally arriving in Pokémon GO as part of the global GO Tour: Unova event, taking place March 1st and 2nd. These highly anticipated Legendary Pokémon will be appearing in raids, offering players the chance to catch both their standard and shiny forms. The event also features special in-game backgrounds inspired by the original Pokémon Black and White games.
The arrival of Black and White Kyurem fulfills a long-standing wish for many fans. While a surprise early release briefly occurred in 2023, their official debut within a dedicated event makes this a truly significant addition to the game. Their powerful potential is expected to significantly impact the game's competitive landscape.
Niantic's announcement confirms the duo's appearance during the Unova-themed event. This is a fitting setting, given Kyurem's origins in the Pokémon Black and White games. Beyond simply catching them in raids, trainers will also have the opportunity to fuse Kyurem with Zekrom (to create Black Kyurem) or Reshiram (to create White Kyurem).
Fusion and New Moves:
This fusion process mirrors the Necrozma fusion from last year. Creating Black Kyurem requires 1,000 Volt Fusion Energy, 30 Kyurem Candy, and 30 Zekrom Candy. Similarly, White Kyurem requires 1,000 Blaze Fusion Energy, 30 Kyurem Candy, and 30 Reshiram Candy. The fusion is reversible at no cost. The necessary Fusion Energy is earned by defeating Kyurem in raids.
These fused forms boast unique moves: Black Kyurem learns Freeze Shock, while White Kyurem learns Ice Burn.
Event-Exclusive Backgrounds:
The GO Tour: Unova event also offers exclusive backgrounds themed after Pokémon Black and White. Successfully fusing either Black or White Kyurem unlocks one background, with a third, unique background awarded for completing both fusions.
With the GO Tour: Unova event rapidly approaching, trainers have just weeks to prepare for the arrival of Black and White Kyurem and all the exciting event content! The event runs from 10 AM to 6 PM local time on March 1st and 2nd.
