Choosing Your Path in Citizen Sleeper 2: A Class Guide

Citizen Sleeper 2 kicks off with a crucial decision: selecting your character's class – Operator, Machinist, or Extractor. This guide breaks down each class, helping you choose the best fit for your playstyle and roleplaying preferences.

Operator

The Operator begins with a bonus to Interface, foundational levels in Intuit and Engage, and no Engineer skills. Endure is un-levelable. Their unique ability lets them trade Stress to re-roll their lowest die.

While powerful later on, the Operator can feel challenging early in the game. The Interface skill is valuable, but the re-roll ability isn't always a game-changer. Roleplaying-wise, the Operator is versatile, adaptable to various character concepts.

Machinist

The Machinist starts with a bonus to Engineer, base levels in Interface and Intuit, and no Endure. Engage is un-levelable. Their ability allows them to spend Stress for a +2 bonus to their lowest die, also reducing Stress on positive outcomes. This bonus increases as the game progresses.

The Machinist proved to be a favorite in my playthrough. The ability to mitigate Stress and boost dice rolls is incredibly helpful, particularly given the frequent need for Engineer and Interface checks. This class is ideal for players focused on the game's technical and mechanical aspects.

Extractor

The Extractor begins with a bonus to Endure, base levels in Engineer and Engage, and no Interface. Intuit is un-levelable. Their ability lets them spend Stress to add +2 to their crew's lowest die, further enhancing crew performance later in the game.

The Extractor's ability shines in Contract management, reducing risk. The starting bonus to Endure is also advantageous, given its frequent use. However, an abundance of crew members with Endure and Engage might lessen the impact. This class suits players who prefer a more rugged, hands-on approach.

This overview should help you select the Citizen Sleeper 2 class that best aligns with your preferred playstyle and character vision.
