Hot on the heels of Microsoft casually mentioning *Hollow Knight: Silksong* in an official Xbox post, fresh backend updates to the game’s Steam listing have reignited speculation that a re-reveal—and possibly even a release date—is just around the corner.
As first noticed across social media, Reddit, Discord, and other corners of the internet, the Steam metadata for *Hollow Knight: Silksong* was updated on March 24. According to SteamDB, the changes include enabling the game for GeForce Now, updated assets, and most notably, an update to the Steam store page’s legal text—now listing copyright under Team Cherry for 2025 instead of 2019.
All signs point toward something significant happening soon regarding *Silksong*, possibly pointing to a 2025 launch window. With Nintendo's Switch 2 Direct scheduled for April 2, fans may not have long before more details surface.
It has been six years since the initial announcement of Hollow Knight: Silksong. While there have been occasional teases over the years, long stretches of silence from Team Cherry have kept fans waiting anxiously.
This past January, however, proved to be an exciting time for dedicated *Hollow Knight* followers. Cryptic activity on X (formerly Twitter) from one of the developers sparked widespread speculation about a possible reveal during the Switch 2 Direct—and potentially even a timed exclusive launch on Nintendo’s upcoming console.
When originally announced, Team Cherry confirmed that *Silksong* would launch on Windows, Mac, Linux, and Nintendo Switch. It also remains one of the most anticipated titles for Xbox Game Pass following Microsoft’s deal with Team Cherry to bring the game to its subscription service on day one.

Back in June 2022, Microsoft featured *Hollow Knight: Silksong* during its Xbox & Bethesda Showcase, stating that everything showcased would be playable within the next 12 months. At the time, this led many to believe the game would be released by mid-2023.
Then, in May 2023, Team Cherry officially announced a delay beyond the first half of the year, noting that further development was needed. Matthew Griffin, Team Cherry’s marketing and publishing lead, stated: “We had planned to release in the first half of 2023, but development is still continuing. We're excited by how the game is shaping up, and it's gotten quite big, so we want to take the time to make the game as good as we can.”
As the sequel to the 2017 critically acclaimed *Hollow Knight*, expectations for *Silksong* are sky-high. The game continues to rank among the most wishlisted titles on Steam. In IGN’s original review of *Hollow Knight*, the team praised the game by saying: “The world of Hallownest is compelling and rich, full of story that’s left for you to discover on your own, and built with branching paths that offer an absurd amount of choice in how you go about discovering it. With such a high density of secrets to find and fun, challenging enemies to face, it’s worth spending every moment you can in Hollow Knight.”
