Basic Information

Elytra are unique, rare items allowing players to glide, significantly enhancing exploration efficiency, especially when combined with fireworks. Resembling wings when deployed, they fold into a cloak-like appearance when stored. While naturally found only in End City ships after defeating the Ender Dragon, alternative acquisition methods exist in other game modes.

How to Get Elytra in Minecraft Survival Mode

Preparing for Battle

Thorough preparation is crucial. Diamond or Netherite armor, ideally enchanted for protection, is essential. A well-enchanted sword and bow (consider Infinity or Power for the bow) are vital for combat. Stock up on arrows or crossbow bolts, and consider fireworks for efficient dragon attacks. Potions of regeneration, strength, and slow falling provide significant advantages. Golden apples offer emergency healing, and blocks aid in reaching End Crystals. A carved pumpkin protects against Endermen aggression.

Activating the Portal to the End

Gathering 12 Eyes of Ender is necessary to activate the End portal. Each Eye requires Blaze Powder (from Blaze Rods dropped by Blazes in Nether Fortresses) and an Ender Pearl (dropped by Endermen). Crafting the Eye of Ender is straightforward:

craft Eye of Ender

Finding the Stronghold

Use the Eyes of Ender to locate the Stronghold. Throw an Eye; it will fly towards the Stronghold, indicating its direction. Navigate the Stronghold's perilous labyrinths, eventually finding the End portal room. Place the Eyes into the frame and prepare for the journey.

Battle with the Dragon

Destroy the End Crystals first to prevent the Ender Dragon's health regeneration. Use a bow and arrow or melee combat to eliminate them. Then, strategically attack the dragon, utilizing ranged attacks when airborne and melee when it lands.

Inside the Ship

After defeating the dragon, a gateway will appear. Throw an Ender Pearl to teleport to the End islands. Locate an End City ship (beware of Shulkers!). Break the Item Frame within the ship to claim your Elytra.
