Wolcen Studio has just announced their latest venture, Project Pantheon, an exciting new free-to-play combat role-playing game that ingeniously incorporates elements of extraction shooter mechanics. The anticipation is building as the first closed alpha testing phase kicks off on January 25 for players in Europe, with North American gamers joining the fray on February 1.
According to game director Andrei Cirkulete, "We've blended the tension and risk-reward dynamics of an extraction shooter with the engaging battle mechanics of combat role-playing games." This unique fusion draws inspiration from iconic titles like Diablo and Escape from Tarkov, promising a thrilling gameplay experience. The developers are keen to gather player feedback as they embark on this innovative project, where players assume the role of a messenger of Death tasked with restoring order to a shattered world.
In Project Pantheon, players will navigate through maps, confronting AI opponents and other players in intense battles. Success hinges on the outcome of evacuation attempts; a successful evacuation means your hard-earned trophies are secured, but failure results in the loss of all loot. The game offers deep customization options, allowing players to build their own base, tailor their equipment, and experiment with various playstyles.
The game's setting draws from world mythologies, with the initial adventures taking place in "Destiny's Edge," a location inspired by Scandinavian legends. Despite being in its early alpha stage, the developers are committed to actively involving the community to refine and enhance Project Pantheon. The project's economy will be driven by player trading, adding another layer of strategic depth to the gameplay.
