Best Doom 2099 Decks in Marvel Snap

Marvel Snap's Second Anniversary Brings Doctor Doom 2099: Top Deck Strategies

Marvel Snap continues its second-year run with another alternate character variant: Doctor Doom 2099. This guide explores optimal deck strategies utilizing this powerful new card.

Understanding Doctor Doom 2099

Doom 2099 is a 4-cost, 2-power card with a unique ability: "After each turn, add a DoomBot 2099 to a random location if you played (exactly) 1 card." DoomBot 2099 (also 4-cost, 2-power) has the ongoing effect: "Your other DoomBots and Doom have +1 Power." Crucially, this buff applies to both Doom 2099 and regular Doctor Doom, creating synergistic power boosts.

Playing one card per turn maximizes Doom 2099's potential, potentially generating 3 DoomBot 2099s for a significant power surge. Early deployment or strategic use of cards like Magik can further amplify this effect. However, the random placement of DoomBots is a drawback, potentially hindering your strategy. Enchantress, recently buffed, completely negates DoomBot 2099's power.

Top Doctor Doom 2099 Decks

Optimizing Doom 2099 requires strategic card play to maintain the one-card-per-turn rhythm. Two primary deck archetypes emerge:

Spectrum Ongoing Deck:

This budget-friendly deck (primarily Series 4 and below, with Doom 2099 as the Series 5 exception) leverages ongoing effects. Key cards include: Ant-Man, Goose, Psylocke, Captain America, Cosmo, Electro, Doom 2099, Wong, Klaw, Doctor Doom, Spectrum, and Onslaught. Strategies involve early Doom 2099 deployment via Psylocke or Electro, followed by Wong, Klaw, and Doctor Doom for widespread power distribution. Alternatively, Electro allows for powerful 6-cost card plays into DoomBots and Spectrum. Cosmo protects against Enchantress.

Patriot-Style Deck:

This equally affordable deck (again, primarily Series 4 and below, with Doom 2099 as the Series 5 exception) focuses on Patriot synergies. Cards include: Ant-Man, Zabu, Dazzler, Mister Sinister, Patriot, Brood, Doom 2099, Super Skrull, Iron Lad, Blue Marvel, Doctor Doom, and Spectrum. Early game focuses on Mister Sinister and Brood, transitioning to Doom 2099, Blue Marvel, Doctor Doom, or Spectrum. Zabu discounts 4-cost cards for early game flexibility. Strategic flexibility allows skipping DoomBot 2099 spawns to play two 3-cost cards on the final turn (e.g., Patriot and discounted Iron Lad). Super Skrull counters other Doom 2099 decks. However, this deck is vulnerable to Enchantress.

Is Doctor Doom 2099 Worth the Investment?

Despite the relatively weak cards alongside Doom 2099 in Spotlight Caches (Daken and Miek), Doom 2099 himself is a worthwhile acquisition. His power and deck-building affordability guarantee meta relevance. Prioritize Collector's Tokens if available, but don't hesitate to acquire him this month; he's poised to become a legendary card in Marvel Snap unless significantly nerfed.
