The Dragon Quest series continues with Dragon Quest X coming exclusively to Japanese mobile devices

  • Dragon Quest X Offline arrives on Japanese iOS and Android devices tomorrow
  • Japanese fans can purchase this standalone version at a special discount
  • No global release plans have been announced at this time

Devoted Dragon Quest enthusiasts know the franchise's extensive catalog, including its many spin-offs. However, the unique MMORPG-style Dragon Quest X never gained the recognition it deserved. Japanese players will now have the opportunity to experience the recently launched offline version on mobile when it drops tomorrow!

Citing Gematsu's report, Japanese Dragon Quest supporters can obtain Dragon Quest X Offline - a single-player adaptation - through premium purchase on iOS and Android platforms. Interestingly, Ubitu once planned to bring Dragon Quest X to mobile devices back in 2013.

Dragon Quest X stands apart from other series entries with its MMORPG-inspired mechanics including real-time combat systems. The offline iteration first debuted in 2022 for consoles and PC, arriving a full decade after the original 2012 release.

Dragon Quest X Offline Mobile Gameplay

Managing Expectations for Global Release: Unfortunately, international fans shouldn't anticipate imminent localization. While the original Dragon Quest X remained Japan-exclusive, bringing the offline mobile version overseas seems improbable based on current information.

As a longtime Dragon Quest supporter who invested countless hours in Sentinels of the Starry Skies, I personally find this disappointing. The chance to experience a different facet of the beloved franchise on mobile would have been wonderful.
