Elden Ring Player Takes on Daily Messmer Challenge Awaiting Nightreign Release

One dedicated Elden Ring player is turning the wait for the upcoming spin-off, Elden Ring: Nightreign, into a unique gaming challenge. This ambitious fan, known as chickensandwich420 on YouTube, has committed to defeating the notoriously difficult boss, Messmer the Impaler, every single day until Nightreign's release. The twist? He's using a different weapon each time, aiming for flawless, no-hit victories, all while playing on NG+7.

A Daily Grind for Nightreign

Chickensandwich420 began his epic undertaking on December 16, 2024. His initial plan involved tackling various bosses from FromSoftware games, but his university studies prompted a change of course. Messmer, the challenging antagonist from Elden Ring's Shadow of the Erdtree DLC, became his sole focus. Known for its brutal difficulty, Messmer has proven a formidable foe for many players, often requiring dozens, even hundreds, of attempts to conquer.

The challenge isn't without its limits. Chickensandwich420 has set a self-imposed deadline of June 2025. If Nightreign doesn't launch by then, he'll shift his focus to other games. This means he's potentially facing over 160 days of battling Messmer. As of this writing, he's already on day 23 of his incredible feat.

Elden Ring: Nightreign, announced at The Game Awards 2024, promises a new standalone co-op adventure within the Elden Ring universe. While a 2025 release is anticipated, FromSoftware's history suggests potential delays. Only time will tell if chickensandwich420's dedication will be rewarded with Nightreign's timely arrival, or if a delayed launch will bring an end to his Messmer marathon.
