Grand Theft Auto (GTA) 5 star Ned Luke assures fans that the highly anticipated GTA 6 is worth the wait, even offering a bold sales prediction. This article delves into Luke's insights and speculation surrounding GTA 6's development and potential impact.
Rockstar Games' Unpredictable Masterpiece: GTA 6
GTA 6: A $1.3 Billion Day One Projection?
Ned Luke, the voice behind Michael De Santa in GTA 5, boldly predicts GTA 6 will generate a staggering $1.3 billion in its first 24 hours. In a recent interview with Fall Damage on YouTube, Luke expressed his confidence in the game's success, highlighting Rockstar Games' knack for the unexpected.
Luke emphasized patience, stating, "What I tell people is, be patient. It's going to be worth the wait. From what I've seen, it's going to be amazing." He referenced GTA 5's impressive $800 million opening day in 2013, suggesting GTA 6 will significantly surpass that record. Market research firm DFC Intelligence supports this optimism, projecting over 40 million copies sold and $3.2 billion in revenue within the first year, with $1 billion attributed to pre-orders alone.
The Return of Familiar Faces? GTA 5 Characters in GTA 6
Luke also offered insights into the possibility of GTA 5 characters appearing in GTA Online and potentially GTA 6. He noted Michael's absence from GTA Online since its launch, contrasting with Trevor and Franklin's appearances.
Luke hinted at Michael's potential inclusion in a future GTA Online DLC or even a role in GTA 6. While Steven Ogg (Trevor in GTA 5) previously suggested Trevor's death as a narrative device, Luke remained tight-lipped, stating, "Maybe [Michael, Franklin, and Trevor will be] in GTA 6, like [its online mode]. Maybe. Maybe not. You know Rockstar is not going to tell you anything. And if we say anything, you know they will not be very happy." Despite the actors' enthusiasm, official confirmation remains elusive.
GTA 6: Entering the Testing Phase?
Former Rockstar Games animator Mike York suggests GTA 6 is currently undergoing internal testing. In a since-deleted interview with YouTuber Kiwi Talkz (via GamesRadar), York highlighted the game's unique unpredictability, stating, "There are a lot of things that can happen that you don't really think about until some random kid in his basement tries it, you know? You really don't."
York believes the game is likely in its internal testing phase, adding, "They're probably still putting in a little work and throwing in little extras," implying a playable build exists and extensive testing is underway.
Rockstar Games unveiled GTA 6 with a teaser trailer in December 2023, but subsequent updates have been scarce. While a Fall 2025 release was previously speculated based on Take-Two Interactive's financial reports, an official release date remains unconfirmed.
