Netflix has unleashed the debut trailer for Happy Gilmore 2, teeing off on July 25th, 2025. The trailer reunites us with Adam Sandler, reprising his iconic role nearly 30 years after the original film's 1996 release. Joining him are familiar faces from the original cast: Julie Bowen, Ben Stiller, and Christopher McDonald, once again embodying the villainous Shooter McGavin.

Netflix also confirmed a star-studded lineup of professional golfers: John Daly, Paige Spiranac, Rory McIlroy, Scottie Scheffler, Bryson DeChambeau, Brooks Koepka, Justin Thomas, and Will Zalatoris. NFL star Travis Kelce also makes a cameo appearance.

Here's Netflix's recap of the original Happy Gilmore, for those needing a refresher:

The original Happy Gilmore concluded with Sandler's character finally finding peace after a grueling golf season (and a memorable brawl with Bob Barker). His mission: raise enough money to cover his grandmother's back taxes. This led the failed hockey player to become the most unconventional golfer the Tour Championship had ever seen. He forged alliances (with the late Carl Weathers' Chubbs Petersen and Allen Covert's caddy) and battled enemies (Christopher McDonald's Shooter McGavin and Bob Barker), ultimately triumphing against the odds. He proved his mettle, saved his grandmother's home, and returned home a victor.

How Happy Gilmore 2 will resurrect his golf career remains to be seen, but one thing is certain: Happy Gilmore is a legend, even among the world's top golfers.

News of Happy Gilmore 2 first broke in March 2024, with Netflix officially ordering the sequel in May. Kyle Newacheck directs, from a script by Sandler and Tim Herlihy.
