Once Human is a big hit at Steam Next Fest, but wishlists are a drop in the bucket

Author : Evelyn Feb 07,2025

Once Human, NetEase's upcoming third-person shooter, boasts over 15 million global pre-registrations, a significant achievement highlighted by its Steam Next Fest success. However, a closer look reveals a key difference: only 300,000 of these registrations are Steam wishlists.

NetEase, known for its mobile game dominance, is prioritizing a PC-first release for Once Human, giving the desktop version a much earlier launch date. This isn't to criticize their strategy; Once Human remains incredibly popular on Steam, attracting the most demo players during Steam Next Fest. Nevertheless, the disparity between its mobile and PC pre-registration numbers underscores the significant difference in reach and discoverability between the two platforms, with mobile still holding a considerable advantage.
