Infinity Nikki and its multiplayer-focused 1.5 update have launched on Steam, bringing both excitement and controversy in equal measure.
Infold Games' stylish fashion RPG arrived on Valve's platform yesterday after months of Epic Games Store exclusivity. What should have been a celebratory moment for fans has instead been overshadowed by technical glitches, confusing design adjustments, and controversial gacha mechanics. The developers have issued apologies and promised compensation, but the community's discontent continues to grow.

The Steam launch was plagued with technical problems including game crashes and performance instability. While launch issues aren't uncommon, players quickly noticed more concerning changes - particularly regarding the game's new outfit requirements.
Two new five-star outfits, Snowbound Ballad and Undying Ember, now require collecting 11 individual pieces - significantly more than previous sets. With up to 220 pulls needed to complete these outfits, players expressed concerns that this marked the beginning of increasingly demanding gacha mechanics.
Community frustration escalated when Infold extended the Crown of Miraland event without clear communication. This decision, combined with the technical issues and monetization changes, sparked outrage among Chinese players who organized on RedNote. The movement quickly went global, with players calling for Steam review bombings and platform-wide boycotts.
"What I am reminding people of is a decent amount of Chinese IN stylists pledging to not spend/pull on the banners to send a message to the digital income trackers for the game," Reddit user kiaxxl explained in a call-to-action post. "For gacha games, tracking how successful a new batch of content is usually measured on the first few days. Holding back your pulls for a couple of days can help show we want IN to remain fun and fair for all players."
The backlash achieved immediate results - Infinity Nikki currently holds a "Mixed" rating on Steam as players warn newcomers about the ongoing issues. The pressure forced Infold to issue an apology letter acknowledging the problems and promising improvements.
Apology Letter Regarding Version 1.5 Gaming Experience
Dear Stylists,
Hope this message finds you well.
First and foremost, we would like to extend our sincerest apologies. We are truly sorry that we were unable to provide you with a stable experience upon the release of the new... pic.twitter.com/YEjpGQpKho— Infinity Nikki (@InfinityNikkiEN) April 29, 2025
The apology included promises to:
- Adjust event schedules
- Provide compensation (10 Revelation Crystals, 10 Resonance Crystals, and 1200 Diamonds)
- Improve future communication
While some players welcomed these changes, others remain skeptical about Infold maintaining the controversial 11-piece outfit requirements moving forward.
"Think about it: CN players are pointing out that if we accept the 11-piece outfits and pity as it is, most new 5 stars will be 11 pieces," noted Reddit user EdensAsmr. "Imagine if every new major update has two 11-piece 5-star banners? That means you have to save even more to be able to handle it, and 70-80 pulls per patch will not cut it."
Infinity Nikki's Update 1.5 is now live, featuring:
- 100 free pulls for players
- New redeemable codes
- The Sea of Stars exploration area
