Pokémon GO Leak Hints at Dynamax Moltres, Zapdos, and Articuno Raids
A prematurely released tweet from the official Pokémon GO Saudi Arabia Twitter account revealed an upcoming event featuring Dynamax Moltres, Zapdos, and Articuno in raids. The post, quickly deleted, indicated the event will run from January 20th to February 3rd. This would mark the first appearance of Dynamax legendary Pokémon in Pokémon GO, following the introduction of Dynamax Pokémon in September 2024.
The Kanto legendary birds are long-time fan favorites. While previously featured in standard raids (including their Shiny forms), and their Galarian counterparts in Daily Incense (with Shiny variants available since October 2024), this Dynamax iteration represents a significant new addition.
The leak suggests a potential boost to the popularity of Dynamax Raids. These raids have faced criticism for their difficulty, particularly the requirement of 40 players for successful completion. Whether this challenge will persist with the legendary birds remains uncertain. The potential for increased difficulty with Dynamax legendary Pokémon is also unconfirmed.
This leak follows a flurry of Pokémon GO announcements for early 2025, including:
- A Community Day Classic featuring Ralts on January 25th.
- A Shadow Raid Day on January 19th, featuring Shadow Ho-Oh, with seven free Raid Passes available.
- The announcement of Pokémon GO Fest 2025 host cities: Osaka, Jersey City, and Paris.
The inclusion of these iconic legendary Pokémon in Dynamax Raids hints at the possibility of more legendary Dynamax encounters in the future, mirroring the Dynamax forms of Mewtwo, Ho-Oh, and others featured in Pokémon Sword and Shield.
