Lionsgate's Monopoly Movie to Get Screenplay From Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves Writers

Author : Jason Mar 19,2025

John Francis Daley and Jonathan Goldstein, the creative duo behind the critically acclaimed Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves, have been tapped to write the screenplay for Lionsgate's upcoming Monopoly movie. This announcement follows previous reports of various attempts to bring the iconic board game to the big screen, dating back to 2007. Margot Robbie's LuckyChap Entertainment will produce the film.

Daley and Goldstein's recent work includes not only Honor Among Thieves, but also their original film, Mayday, and contributions to The Flash and Spider-Man: Homecoming. Their involvement suggests a fresh approach to adapting the Monopoly property, potentially moving beyond previous stalled attempts. These past efforts, including involvement from Ridley Scott and other notable figures, ultimately failed to materialize. However, Lionsgate's acquisition of eOne from Hasbro appears to have reignited the project, paving the way for Daley and Goldstein's vision. The hope is that this iteration will finally bring the Monopoly movie to fruition.
