Marvel Rivals Unveils Map Plans for Season 1

Marvel Rivals Unveils Sanctum Sanctorum: A New Map and Game Mode for Season 1

Season 1 of Marvel Rivals, "Eternal Night Falls," launching January 10th at 1 AM PST, introduces a thrilling new map: the Sanctum Sanctorum. This iconic location will host the game's newest mode, Doom Match, a chaotic free-for-all battle royale for 8-12 players where the top half emerge victorious.

This isn't the only addition to the Marvel Rivals map roster. Midtown Manhattan will feature a new convoy mission, promising intense street battles. Central Park is also slated for arrival mid-season, though details remain scarce.

The Sanctum Sanctorum itself is a visual feast, blending opulent décor with the surreal. A recently released video showcases the map's quirky details, including floating kitchenware, a bizarre refrigerator inhabitant, winding staircases, levitating bookshelves, and powerful artifacts. Even Doctor Strange himself is present, albeit in portrait form, alongside a cameo from his loyal spectral canine companion, Bats. A notable appearance by Wong, a fan-favorite character previously absent from the game, adds to the excitement.

This season's narrative centers around Dracula's sinister plot against Doctor Strange. With the Sorcerer Supreme temporarily out of commission, the Fantastic Four step up to defend New York City. Mister Fantastic and Invisible Woman debut with Season 1, while Human Torch and The Thing are expected to join the fray in the mid-season update. The meticulous detail evident in the Sanctum Sanctorum map suggests a high level of developer commitment, promising an engaging and visually stunning experience for players.

Key Features:

  • New Map: Sanctum Sanctorum, Doctor Strange's home, with unique and bizarre elements.
  • New Game Mode: Doom Match – a free-for-all battle for 8-12 players.
  • New Characters: Mister Fantastic and Invisible Woman launch with Season 1; Human Torch and The Thing arrive mid-season.
  • New Storyline: Dracula's attack on New York City and Doctor Strange.
