Marvel Snap Deck Guide: September 2024 Edition
This month's Marvel Snap (Free) deck guide arrives a little early to compensate for last month's delay. A new season brings new cards and potential meta shifts, so let's explore the strongest decks and some fun, accessible alternatives. Remember, meta decks are fluid; these are snapshots of the current landscape.
Most decks assume a complete card collection. I'll present five top-tier decks, followed by a couple of more accessible and enjoyable options.
While the Young Avengers haven't drastically altered the meta, the new Amazing Spider-Season and the Activate ability are game-changers. October's meta will likely be significantly different.
Top-Tier Decks
1. Kazar and Gilgamesh
Cards: Ant-Man, Nebula, Squirrel Girl, Dazzler, Kate Bishop, Marvel Boy, Caeira, Shanna, Kazar, Blue Marvel, Gilgamesh, Mockingbird
This surprisingly strong deck utilizes low-cost cards buffed by Kazar and Blue Marvel. Marvel Boy provides additional buffs, and Gilgamesh thrives in this environment. Kate Bishop offers flexibility and cost reduction for Mockingbird.
2. Silver Surfer Still Reigns Supreme, Part II
Cards: Nova, Forge, Cassandra Nova, Brood, Silver Surfer, Killmonger, Hope Summers, Nocturne, Sebastian Shaw, Copycat, Absorbing Man, Gwenpool
This refined Silver Surfer deck incorporates balance changes and new cards. The classic Nova/Killmonger combo boosts early plays, Forge enhances Brood clones, Gwenpool buffs hand cards, Shaw benefits from buffs, Hope provides energy, Cassandra Nova drains opponent power, and Surfer/Absorbing Man secures victory. Copycat replaces Red Guardian as a versatile tool.
3. Spectrum and Man-Thing Ongoing Domination
Cards: Wasp, Ant-Man, Howard the Duck, Armor, US Agent, Lizard, Captain America, Cosmo, Luke Cage, Ms. Marvel, Man-Thing, Spectrum
The Ongoing archetype remains strong, with Spectrum providing a powerful end-game buff. The Luke Cage/Man-Thing synergy is potent, and Cosmo's utility is increasing. This deck is relatively straightforward to play.
4. Discard Dracula's Reign of Terror
Cards: Blade, Morbius, The Collector, Swarm, Colleen Wing, Moon Knight, Corvus Glaive, Lady Sif, Dracula, Proxima Midnight, MODOK, Apocalypse
This classic Apocalypse-style Discard deck features a buffed Moon Knight. Morbius and Dracula are the key cards, aiming for a final-turn Apocalypse play devoured by Dracula for massive power.
5. The Unstoppable Force of Destruction
Cards: Deadpool, Niko Minoru, X-23, Carnage, Wolverine, Killmonger, Deathlok, Attuma, Nimrod, Knull, Death
The Destroy deck remains a force, with Attuma's buff making him a strong addition. Maximize Deadpool and Wolverine destruction, utilize X-23's energy generation, and finish with Nimrod or Knull. Arnim Zola's absence reflects the rise of counter-strategies.
Fun and Accessible Decks
6. Darkhawk's Triumphant Return
Cards: The Hood, Spider-Ham, Korg, Niko Minoru, Cassandra Nova, Moon Knight, Rockslide, Viper, Proxima Midnight, Darkhawk, Blackbolt, Stature
This deck utilizes Darkhawk's power, combining him with Korg and Rockslide to flood the opponent's deck. It also includes disruptive cards like Spider-Ham and Cassandra Nova, along with discard effects to make Stature cost-effective.
7. Budget-Friendly Kazar Combo
Cards: Ant-Man, Elektra, Ice Man, Nightcrawler, Armor, Mister Fantastic, Cosmo, Kazar, Namor, Blue Marvel, Klaw, Onslaught
A beginner-friendly version of the Kazar deck, lacking some high-cost cards but teaching the core combo strategy. It still features the Kazar/Blue Marvel synergy and includes Onslaught for a powerful final push.
The meta is constantly evolving. The new Activate ability and Symbiote Spider-Man will significantly impact October's landscape. Happy Snapping!
