Capcom Unveils Onimusha: Way of the Sword Gameplay Featuring Miyamoto Musashi

Capcom has treated fans to a fresh look at its upcoming action title, Onimusha: Way of the Sword, slated for release in 2026. The new gameplay footage, showcased during the PlayStation State of Play, reveals the legendary swordsman Miyamoto Musashi as the game's protagonist.

PlayMiyamoto Musashi, renowned for his unparalleled swordsmanship, takes center stage. The trailer not only showcases his exceptional skills but also offers a glimpse into his mischievous and humorous personality.

Capcom describes Onimusha: Way of the Sword as a dark fantasy action game featuring one of Japan's most celebrated historical figures. Musashi's in-game likeness is reportedly based on the iconic Toshiro Mifune, known for his memorable portrayal of Musashi in numerous samurai films.

The game is set in a Kyoto overrun by the malevolent force known as Malic, which is summoning demonic entities from Hell into Japan. This marks the first new entry in the Onimusha franchise in two decades. To build anticipation, Capcom also announced a remaster of Onimusha 2: Samurai's Destiny, launching May 23, 2025.
