Among the most eagerly awaited game releases I discussed last year, Pirates Outlaws 2: Heritage certainly stands out. The original Pirates Outlaws was a stylish, swashbuckling roguelike deckbuilder that captivated players when the genre was still emerging. Now, its sequel is set to launch in the third quarter of this year, promising an exciting return to the high seas of New Elysia.
In Pirates Outlaws 2: Heritage, players will embark on another thrilling journey across the ocean. The game introduces a variety of new characters, each with seven class options, allowing you to tailor your deck and strategy to your playstyle. You can also recruit an animal companion, adding an extra layer of strategic depth to your battles. With enhanced turn-based combat and a new card evolution tree, you'll have a plethora of tools at your disposal to conquer the seas.
Run out the guns
Pirates Outlaws 2 is set to be a significantly expanded sequel, offering players the freedom to explore the map extensively and experiment with numerous card and character combinations. For those playing on PC, an upcoming Steam demo will provide the first opportunity to experience Pirates Outlaws 2 firsthand.
One aspect that raised a slight concern for me was the animations in the reveal trailer, which appeared somewhat static. While fully animating these illustrations can be challenging, I hope the final release will feature more dynamic visual effects when it becomes available on mobile devices later this year.
