Sega Embraces Risk, Fostering Innovation

RGG Studio, renowned for the Like a Dragon series, currently has several projects underway, including a brand-new IP. Despite already having a new Like a Dragon title and a Virtua Fighter remake slated for 2025, the studio recently unveiled Project Century, a new IP set in 1915 Japan, and a new Virtua Fighter project. This ambitious undertaking is possible, according to studio head Masayoshi Yokoyama, due to Sega's acceptance of risk.

Yokoyama credits Sega's DNA with this risk-taking culture, citing the creation of Shenmue as an example. Initially working with the Virtua Fighter IP, Sega sought to explore new avenues, leading to the "what if we made 'VF' into an RPG?" concept that birthed Shenmue.

Quality Assurance Remains Paramount

RGG Studio assures fans that the simultaneous development of these projects won't compromise quality. With the support of original Virtua Fighter creator Yu Suzuki, and a commitment to innovation, Yokoyama and Virtua Fighter Project producer Riichiro Yamada pledge to deliver a high-quality, innovative experience.
