Summary
- Halo: The Master Chief Collection and Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 are reportedly coming to PS5 and Nintendo Switch 2.
- Both games are expected to launch sometime in 2025.
- An industry insider predicts significantly more first-party Xbox games will become multi-platform this year.
A new report from a reputable industry insider suggests Halo: The Master Chief Collection may be heading to PS5 and Switch 2. This same source also claims at least one other major Xbox franchise will soon launch on multiple platforms.
Microsoft's initiative to bring first-party games to other consoles began in February 2024, starting with Pentiment, Hi-Fi Rush, Grounded, and Sea of Thieves. As Dusk Falls, while not developed by a Microsoft subsidiary, is also considered part of this group due to its initial Xbox exclusivity. Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 joined the multi-platform lineup in October 2024, followed by Indiana Jones and the Great Circle slated for Spring 2025 on PS5.
According to NateTheHate, this multi-platform expansion may soon include the hugely popular Halo franchise. In a recent podcast, he stated that Halo: The Master Chief Collection is planned for release on both PS5 and Switch 2 sometime in 2025.
Microsoft Flight Simulator Also Reportedly Coming to PS5 and Switch 2
NateTheHate also indicated that Microsoft Flight Simulator is likely to follow suit, potentially referring to MFS 2024, released November 19th. He suggests this franchise will also arrive on PlayStation and Nintendo consoles in 2025.
More Xbox Games Going Multi-Platform in 2025
This report is supported by Jez Corden, another prominent Microsoft leaker, who tweeted that "way more" Xbox games will launch on PS5 and Switch 2. Corden believes the era of exclusive Xbox titles is over.
The future multi-platform expansion of the Call of Duty franchise is almost certain. A deal struck during the Activision Blizzard acquisition guarantees Call of Duty games on Nintendo consoles for ten years. The absence of Switch titles to date may be due to Microsoft awaiting the release of the more powerful Switch 2, better suited for modern, graphically demanding games.
