Treyarch Unveils "The Tomb," a New Map for Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 Zombies, in 115 Day Celebration
Treyarch is celebrating 115 Day with a flurry of announcements for Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 Zombies, culminating in the reveal of a new map: The Tomb. This annual event, celebrated on January 15th, treats Call of Duty fans to a detailed blog post outlining upcoming zombie-themed surprises.
The highlight is undoubtedly The Tomb, a desert-themed Zombies map launching with Season 2 on January 28th. This follows Season 1's Citadelle des Morts, adding another exciting location to the Zombies universe in less than two weeks.
Treyarch's narrative summary reveals that after the events of Citadelle des Morts, Weaver, Grey, Carver, and Maya follow Gabriel Krafft's clues to an excavation site to secure the Sentinel Artifact. This ancient burial ground, dating back to 2500 B.C.E., remained undisturbed until the early 1900s, hinting at a deeper mystery.
While details are scarce, The Tomb's connection to British archaeologist Sir Archibald Fotherington-Smythe is teased. Gameplay-wise, Treyarch promises a similar experience to Liberty Falls—a smaller, replayable map with a focus on tight spaces and hidden Easter eggs.
Season 2 also includes a revamped Wonder Weapon inspired by previous iterations and the return of a classic SMG. Further details on these additions remain under wraps.
Significant quality-of-life improvements are also on the horizon. These include tracking up to 10 Calling Card and 10 Camo challenges in both Zombies and Multiplayer modes, a co-op pause option for Zombies, and the ability to rejoin Zombies matches with your loadout if disconnected. Separate HUD presets for Zombies and Multiplayer will also be implemented.
To celebrate 115 Day, players can enjoy double GobbleGum earn rates and double XP for players, weapons, and the battle pass until 10 AM PT on January 21st. Treyarch also shared impressive statistics for the story-driven Directed Mode, revealing over 480 million hours played. The team notes that the average Main Quest completion rate has more than doubled since its launch, indicating its success in onboarding new players.
The impact of the SAG-AFTRA strike on the voice acting for The Tomb remains a point of interest, following Activision's acknowledgment of recasting some beloved Zombies characters.
