Accessing Nightmare Crownless in Honkai: Star Rail's Wuthering Waves

Nightmare Crownless, a potent Nightmare Echo in Honkai: Star Rail's Wuthering Waves, boasts increased Havoc and Basic Attack DMG, making it a valuable asset for specific characters. Unlike standard Echoes, acquiring Nightmare Crownless requires completing the "Ruins Where Shadows Roam" quest and an additional step.

Ruins Where Shadows Roam Quest Guide

This quest isn't initiated through an NPC or world interaction. Instead, locate it within the Exploration Progress menu for the Penitent's End region in Rinascita. Access this menu via the compass icon in the upper-left of your map.

"Ruins Where Shadows Roam" is intrinsically linked to "Quest of Faith," an optional quest requiring four enemy defeats within Penitent's End. Begin by interacting with the prompt near the circular arena adjacent to the Resonance Beacon across the broken bridge in Wailing Ascent. This triggers a battle against a Questless Knight.

Defeat these knights by strategically maneuvering them near lit Macabre Torches within the arena. Reignite extinguished torches by luring Fae Ignis enemies to strike them. Avoid using high-damage skills near the torches to prevent accidental extinguishment.

Unlocking Nightmare Crownless

After completing "Ruins Where Shadows Roam" and "Quest of Faith," locate all four Dream Patrols in Penitent's End (locations shown in the image above). While completing these patrols isn't mandatory for unlocking Nightmare Crownless, doing so provides additional resources and Monnaie. Once all patrols are located, Nightmare Crownless will appear on your map within the ruins north of Penitent's End.

Remember, Nightmare Echoes utilize Enhanced Absorption charges, significantly boosting Echo drop rates. With a weekly limit of 15 charges, plan your usage strategically if you're developing multiple characters.
