SoMoGa Inc. has unveiled a revitalized version of Vay, now available on Android, iOS, and Steam. Vay, a classic 16-bit RPG, returns with enhanced graphics, a modernized user interface, and controller support.
Originally released in Japan in 1993 for the Sega CD (developed by Hertz and localized for the US by Working Designs), Vay received an iOS re-release by SoMoGa in 2008. This latest iteration breathes new life into the beloved title.
What's New in the Revamped Vay?
This updated Vay boasts over 100 enemies, a dozen formidable bosses, and exploration across 90 diverse areas. A standout feature is its adjustable difficulty settings, catering to various player skill levels.
Further enhancements include an auto-save function and Bluetooth controller support for flexible gameplay. Players can acquire new equipment and items, unlock spells through character progression, and utilize an AI system for autonomous character combat.
The Story:
The game unfolds in a distant galaxy, scarred by a millennia-long interstellar war. A colossal, malfunctioning machine crashes into the technologically underdeveloped planet Vay, unleashing destruction and chaos.
Players assume the role of a hero embarking on a quest to rescue their abducted wife and potentially save the world. Their wedding day turns into a nightmare when their bride is kidnapped, launching them on an epic journey to confront the destructive war machines.
Vay's narrative is immediately engaging, blending nostalgic charm with modern enhancements. True to its JRPG roots, characters gain experience and gold through random encounters. The game features nearly ten minutes of animated cutscenes with both English and Japanese audio options.
