The 2025 Oscar nominations for the 97th Academy Awards are officially out, and this year’s standout is Emilia Pérez, a Spanish-language crime drama directed by Jacques Audiard. The film has earned an impressive 13 nominations—making it the non-English language film with the most nods in Oscar history.
Rachel Sennott and Bowen Yang revealed the nominees on January 23 via a live stream on the Oscars YouTube channel. Among its many categories, Emilia Pérez received recognition in top-tier fields such as Best Picture, Best Director for Audiard, and Best Lead Actress, where Karla Sofía Gascón is nominated for her compelling performance.
Close contenders include Wicked and The Brutalist, each landing 10 nominations, while Conclave and A Complete Unknown secured eight apiece.
