The latest Capcom Spotlight and Monster Hunter Wilds Showcase have provided an exciting glimpse into the future of Capcom's gaming lineup, unveiling a wealth of new information across various titles. From a new story trailer and Open Beta 2 details for Monster Hunter Wilds to fresh insights into Onimusha: Way of the Sword, a remaster of Onimusha 2: Samurai's Destiny, a release date for Capcom Fighting Collection 2, and more, there's a lot for fans to look forward to.

Onimusha: Way of the Sword Gets a Bunch of New Details

PlayOnimusha: Way of the Sword is slated for release in 2026, and Capcom has shared some thrilling updates about what fans can anticipate from this revival of the beloved franchise.

In crafting this new installment, the development team is concentrating on three key areas: developing compelling characters, introducing a fresh protagonist, and crafting engaging enemies. They are dedicated to recreating the setting of Kyoto, which is "brimming with historical, real-life locations." Their ultimate goal is to deliver the "ultimate sword fighting action" experience, emphasizing the "visceral satisfaction of slicing through enemies."

Although details about the new protagonist remain sparse, it has been confirmed that Onimusha: Way of the Sword will be set during the Edo Period, where players will battle against malevolent creatures called Genma. Through a "twist of fate," the protagonist will wield an Oni Gauntlet, using it to vanquish foes and feed it souls.

The game aims to be challenging yet accessible, designed to be enjoyable for action game enthusiasts of all skill levels.

Onimusha 2: Samurai's Destiny Is Getting a Remastered Version in 2025

PlayOnimusha 2: Samurai's Destiny, originally released in 2002, is set to receive a remastered version in 2025. This remaster is expected to tide fans over until the release of Onimusha: Way of the Sword in 2026.

Monster Hunter Wilds Open Beta 2 to Feature Flagship Monster Arkveld

PlayThe second Open Beta test for Monster Hunter Wilds is on the horizon, and Capcom has revealed what players can expect that differs from the first beta. A major highlight is the introduction of the flagship monster, Arkveld, featured in an advanced quest designed to challenge players.

The beta will also include a Gypceros Hunt, a training area, and online features such as Private Lobbies and Online Single Player mode. Private Lobbies will not appear in public searches, making them ideal for playing with friends, while Online Single Player mode allows players to play solo but with the option to use an S.O.S. Flare to switch to multiplayer when needed.

Players can transfer their data from the first Open Beta to this new one, and familiar features like Character Creator, Story Trial, and the Doshaguma hunt will return.

Monster Hunter Wilds is scheduled for release on February 28, with the second Open Beta test, which includes Cross-Play, running during the following periods:

  • Thursday, February 6 at 7pm PT to Sunday, February 9 at 6:59pm PT
  • Thursday, February 13 at 7pm PT to Sunday, February 16 at 6:59pm PT
PlayParticipants will be able to transfer their character data to the full game, though game progression will not carry over. Those who participate will receive a special Pendant as a reward.

Monster Hunter Wilds Reveals Iceshard Cliffs and New Enemies Just Waiting to Be Fought

The Monster Hunter Wilds Showcase introduced a new story trailer set in the frozen locale of the Iceshard Cliffs, set to release on February 28. This area will be home to unique creatures such as the Wudwud Rove, the Hirabami Leviathan, the Nerscylla Temnoceran, and the formidable Gore Magala. Fans will also learn more about the flagship monster, Arkveld.

Capcom Fighting Collection 2 Launches on May 16

PlayCapcom Fighting Collection 2 is set to launch on May 16, 2025, and will feature an array of classic fighting games including Capcom vs. SNK Millennium Fight 2000 Pro, Capcom vs. SNK 2: Mark of the Millennium 2001, Capcom Fighting Evolution, Street Fighter Alpha 3 Upper, Power Stone, Power Stone 2, Project Justice, and Plasma Sword: Night of Bilstein.

Street Fighter 6 Adds Fatal Fury's Mai on February 5
