Conan O'Brien Cast in Toy Story 5

Disney has cast Conan O'Brien for a part in Toy Story 5.

The red-haired talk show host will voice a mysterious new character named Smarty Pants in the upcoming film.

O'Brien revealed his role in Toy Story 5 through his official TeamCoco Instagram account in a comedic skit, joking that he asked Disney if he could voice Woody or Buzz Lightyear instead. (Fortunately, Tom Hanks and Tim Allen are already set to return to their legendary roles.)

No further details about O'Brien's character were shared, leaving fans to wonder who Smarty Pants might be.

Toy Story 5 will bring back Woody, Buzz, and the rest of Pixar's beloved crew for a new adventure, where the classic toys must navigate a world where children are now more interested in gadgets and technology.

Could Smarty Pants be some sort of electronic toy, and possibly an antagonist for our brave toy heroes? Only time will tell.

O'Brien's casting marks the first announcement of a new character for Toy Story 5, hinting that this role could be quite significant.

Toy Story 5 will be the first major new installment in Pixar's series since Toy Story 4 in 2019. A spinoff, Lightyear, focusing on the in-universe adventures of the original Buzz Lightyear character, was released in 2022 but was largely considered a box-office disappointment.

Now, Disney aims to reinvigorate its core Toy Story franchise once again, despite the challenge of following the series' acclaimed original trilogy.

Toy Story 5 is scheduled for release on June 19, 2026, and will be the first of several planned sequels to classic Pixar films in the coming years, with Incredibles 3 and Coco 2 also in development.
